Hmmmm.
I guess they must have customers but I can’t imagine anyone being able to go through the front door without either being unable to keep a straight face or being absolutely petrified. It’s also situated in Gosforth, which although quite posh, doesn’t normally have this kind of vibe. Now in Jesmond, well maybe.
Seeing this place, and wondering who goes there, reminded me of a recent conversation with a fellow thirtysomething here in Newcastle. He works at a call centre with lots of bright young things. I didn’t ask how it came up in conversation but he reckons that most of his male young colleagues admit to shaving/waxing their pubic hair.
I was shocked. The gay guys’ penchant for “back, sack and crack” I had heard of but is this now widespread?
Really?
It appears that maybe contemporary alpha males do groom more than I thought. Or at least young ones do.
I’ve never felt so glad to be an aging beta.

Because you didn’t ask, I’d like to go on record that I don’t wax anything either.
I guess that makes me a “young beta”.
I reckon this trend is far more widespread here in the States too than most folks will admit.

Strange though isn’t it? It’s one of those thing that, if you had asked me a week ago I would have said simply “Men don’t”. Generalising, of course but speaking for at least, say, 98% of men.
Then all of a sudden, one conversation later and I’m starting to think I am the odd one out.

I’m sorry but the metrosexual man does nothing for me! Any guy who spends more time in the bathroom than I do is just wrong. The sad thing is a huge majority of these guys end up with the same haircut & colour, fake tan and crappy dress sense as each other. I’m not saying a majority of women aren’t starting to look like that these days, but it’s all a bit scary for men to be acting like that!
And quite frankly the thought of ‘Shrek’ Rooney having that done…well I’m put off my lunch! And on the subject of putting people off lunch Steve, I hate to pass this fact on, but apparently shaving certain parts makes certain other parts…erm, look bigger, I am reliably informed. Sorry - I definitely owe you a drink now!! LOL

Thanks singlet. I’m going toneither beat them or join them - I’ll settle for ignoring them. Beta males rule but I am sure that Alpha males didn’t used to groom.
