Some of us complain about regional stereotypes. Others just reaffirm them.
Pizza, chips, kebab, pasty - YOU DECIDE!
You’ve been to the match, you’ve had a couple of beers and you’re on your way home…
But what do you stuff your face with before you stagger through the door and get told off by the missus?
That’s the subject of our web poll today, inspired by news that Greggs plans to open a late-night bakery in Sunderland.

I’d go for a cold ice cream and salty chips… that would do it for me.

That’s maccems for you :-)
When we used to stop off at the Magic bakery in Stockbridge in Edinburgh early in the morning we used to have pies as I recall, and also fresh rolls.
But we also used to have deep fried frozen pizza at the Golden Arrow in Tollcross….. And you could get stovies at Greasy Risi’s… Ah , Scotland.

Ok, but’s what’s a whippet stottie? Surely you don’t fill it with dog meat.

Mosh
*sigh* I used to have a chip stottie from Clarkes’ on the Westgate Road when I was in Newcastle during the week. Enormous and about 50p.
On the way back from the Mayfair, we used to walk round to a place at the bottom of Westgate. Can’t recall the name, but just round the corner from Kard Bar. My g/f (may have just been “friend”) at the time always had a roast beef roll. I got a pint of milk to drink on the walk back to Low Fell.

Me
Whole round stottie, stuffed with roast pork, bit of cracklin’, sage & onion stuffin’ and a dollop of pease pudding. Ah bliss - Ah calories - who cared in the late 50’s after leaving the Gallowgate end following a good match. The guy with the van - did them all for 1/-d (one shilling old money). It was just a tanner (kids price) to get into the match.
